Built in two phases, the new Trauma and Emergency Department, a three-fold expansion of the existing Emergency Department, will cater for the widest range of illnesses and injuries, and have a focus on patients presenting with life-threatening medical needs.

One special facility, incorporated within the new building will be a state-of-the-art, multi-place hyperbaric chamber which will provide emergency medical treatment to those involved in diving accidents. This chamber will also offer improved access to oxygen therapy for patients with a variety of medical conditions.
